History

In 2009 a group of model railroaders spun off of the Chattanooga Area Model Railroad Club and set out to establish a group interested in maintaining a railroad put together in a modular format. This modular format would allow a railroad to be assembled in many different sizes and shapes and interconnect with other individuals or clubs conforming to NMRA module standards. The building standards each module is built by establish track spacing and placement, electrical connections, etc.

A New Beginning......

In 2013 the modelers that make up CMM formed into a not-for-profit Tennessee corporation (CMM, Inc.) chartered to educate interested hobbyists, and the public, about the role railroads have in our nation's history along with the regional impact the railroad had on developing Chattanooga as a sought after prize during the US Civil War and a southeastern manufacturing hub. In 2014 CMM was awarded 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Charity status under IRS regulation 509 (a) (2). It is also our aim to teach the techniques and technology necessary to successfully put together a module or a model railroad while encouraging artistic expression in a 3D, operational environment.

Our future......

Though we are, at present, primarily utilizing HO (1:87 scale) and N (1:160 scale) model railroad equipment, we also count among our ranks modelers interested in O, On30 and S scales that have assembled a models or modular layouts. Chartered as an artistic educational entity, we are interested in developing modular railroads in a variety of scales and sizes and developing or enhancing existing standards to support this effort. In addition, we are driven to leverage our talents to meet these goals and to obtain a permanent home for CMM, Inc. to establish a display, public education center and member training facility.
